Sunday 2nd March – Stableford
Postscript to yesterday’s SPGW post, with Mark Pretty & Bronny Clarke winning the week’s final event, the Mixed Ambrose at Kingston. Congratulations Mark & Bronny.
A good field of 19 contested today’s Stableford round in fine conditions. Unfortunately, only 18 finished and 1 retiree with a bad back.
Winner with 34 pts was Jason Walters from Cookie (coming off his fine SPGW) on a countback from Brian P on 33 pts.
Despite Logan not being able to fully replicate his form of last week, he did manage birdies on the 9th & 11th. Single were had by Cookie (6th), Spinner (18th), Bugg (6th) & Log (14th).
Brian Pennell earned a shot at the Adam “Goog” Walker NTP Challenge, with his NTP on the 6th.
NTP on the 9th went to Shannon Ash.
Whilst trying to flush out “tales” for your entertainment, very little was forthcoming. Comments which probably best described the day’s play were, “the group excelled at mediocrity” & “spasmodic golf”.
Cooper did have a bit of luck after his 2nd shot on the 7th lodged in a tree. Having located the ball, he was about to say, “what am I going to do?”, when a gust of wind dislodged the ball. Penalty saved.
Took Spinner 9 holes to wake up, with 11 pts on the front & 19 on the back.
On one hole Smithy went driver, driver, the second one going about 150m, hit a tree & back 145m.
To all the members who helped during SPGW, thank you very much. It is an important week on the local golfing calendar & raises considerable funds towards the running of the club, which benefits all members. Again, big thank you.
