Sunday 19th January – Stableford
A field of 15 took to the course in warm, but good golfing conditions Sunday.
A big welcome to father & son duo Matthew & Harrison Tink from Serviceton. Serviceton is on the Vic / SA border between Bordertown & Kaniva. The course is that close to the border, that if you hook your drive on the 18th, you’ll be in SA.
Whilst no one played to handicap, 7 of the 15 players achieved 33 pts or better, which is not a bad day out.
Log lead the way with 35 pts from Carrie on a countback from Brendan Freeman & Wakey (34 pts). On 33 pts were our visitors Matthew & Harry & Rob C.
NTP on the 18th was Cooper, with Alex W taking the NTP on the 6th/15th in the Adam “Goog” Walker 2025 NTP Challenge.
There were fewer birdies carded this week, with Log again leading the way with 2 (6th, 14th), Singles to Alex Wez (15th), Varcs (11th) & Matthew Tink, who recovered from his effort on the 1st, (which included a “topped” drive, then one into the swamp) to birdie the 3rd from 100m out. Great shot Matthew.
Playing group of Log, Matthew & Harrison had a combined points score of 1 point on the1st. A combined 8 pts on the 10th was certainly an improved effort.
Unfortunately, Cooper’s chip out of the grass from the old bunker on the 6th wasn’t as hoped for. Aftermath was described as “Black Hawk Down”. Club just slipped!
However, Coop did have reason to celebrate taking 6 “greenie” units on the 18th.
Carrie scored 9 pts on the last 3 holes. A bladed chip, holed out. A duffed chip, only to sink the putt. Doesn’t matter how you do it, we don’t have to draw pictures.
Issy celebration on halving the 18th was a little premature, as he soon realised he didn’t get a stroke on the hole.
Next week is the Australia Day weekend. There is a tournament at Kingston, but we’ll play our comp as normal.
Entries for Southern Ports close on the 31st January. 2025 is the 50th anniversary of the event. It’s an iconic event which relies on the support of players. So, if your able to play, make the effort & register.
Have a great week.
