BGC New Years Day Tournament
A capacity field of 63 players contested a very successful 2025 BGC News Day Tournament, sponsored by Adelaide BMW & South East Property Sales & Management. A big thank you to our sponsors. Without their support, the club could not hold the event.
Thanks to the club volunteers for their efforts in preparing for & managing the day & also to the players who supported the event. We hope you enjoyed yourselves.
48 men played a stroke competition in 3 grades, whilst 15 ladies contested a Stableford competition.
A big welcome to all visiting players, hope you enjoyed the course & hospitality.

Ladies Results
Obviously 2 Beachport girls didn’t party too hard to see in 2025.
Winner was Jenni Walker with a very impressive 42 pts.
Normally, with 40 pts you’d be pretty confident of a win. However, Karen MacGregor had to settle for the runner-up prize.
3rd from Lucindale was Jacki Baker with 37 pts & NTP on the 6th.
Millicent’s Alex Lambert took 4th position on a countback from Blue Lake’s Kristy Janeway with 35 pts. Alex also won the NTP on both the 8th & 9th holes.
Kristy had a “Tigerish” chip out from 80m on the 7th. Unfortunately, it was for a bogie 5, having experienced a little tree trouble on her drive & 3rd shots.
Allan Schultz experienced the highs & lows of golf today. His drive on the 9th was pin high but right of the green under the trees. Deft use of his putter saw him sink “the Putt” for birdie. The 11th wasn’t so forgiving. His drive engaged the trees which took 4 shots to “disengage”, resulting in a 9 which virtual wrote his day off.
Playing group comprising of Millicent mates Travis Taylor, Wormy Werchon & Craig Tunkin all rate a mention for their efforts today. Trav’s drive on the 4th hit the water tank adjacent the 7th tee block. Long drive, even though “a little” misdirected. Needless to say, teed up for 3.
Wormy started off a little rough, with a few encounters with trees, but started a comeback late on the front 9.
Tunks on the other hand, had a good front 9 but a couple of “double figures” took the edge off his mood. One of his playing partners came in to get the group a drink whilst on the 17th tee & said, “dunno what Tunks is drinking, he may have gone home!” Fortunately, he finished the round & enjoyed the camaraderie & hospitality after the round.
Glenis S had 2 duffs on the 9th. She put it down to 1: not having played for several weeks & 2. goading from Spinner. Glad to see you back anyway Glenis.
Apparently, Cookie had the greens on a string today, dropping putts from everywhere. Well done.
Cooper had a near miss when an errant ball from the 4th, whizzed past his head whilst he was standing to the front left of the 7th green. Lucky one Coop.
A Happy & prosperous 2025 to all.
