Tales from the Trees

30th June – Stableford

After a week of welcomed rain, the course had few “duck ponds”, particularly in front of the first tee block & was a bit heavier to play. However, the country needed & appreciated the rain.

A field of 15 took on the course in chilly conditions, with the occasional shower. You know it’s cold when Goog turns up in long pants & a jumper, which obviously restricted his free-flowing swing as he only returned a score of 27 pts.

Jason Wezza handled the conditions the best to record a win with 39 pts. & also claiming the NTP. Continuing his good recent form, was Shannon Ash with 37 pts to be runner-up. Third was a tie for Cookie & Log on 36 pts.

7 birdies were had on the day. 2 each to Wezza (9th, 11th) & Cookie (3rd & 11th) & singles to Cooper (10th), Stef (11th & his day’s highlight) & Log 17th.

Talking to the players after the round there were few highlights to mention.

Schultzy quote of,”100% of short putts don’t go in”, after missing several “short putts” short.

Jase W’s encounter with a “ball eating” tree on the 4th.

And then we came to Stef. Meltdown was mentioned in regaling Stef’s day.

Stef arrived today feeling pretty confident after a “good” 2 under in Millicent’s Par round yesterday. His birdie on the 11th was another positive. Are for the fickleness of golf.

Things started to go awry when his buggy “broke down” on the14th. Then his driver & 3 wood both broke down on the 16th. Drive short of the red tee blocks & his 2nd lucky to get passed the also.

After his next shot, his playing partners thought he was going to get something from his buggy on the 4th, but he was only going to find his ball after another wayward shot.

Stef did try to save a “bit of face” buy claiming a “sandy” (1 putt after getting out of a bunker). Unfortunately, he had to admit it only came after an “Adolph” (“ball didn’t leave the bunker after his 1st attempt” for the non-golfers.) Nice try Stef.

The final insult was to Wezza, Stef’s playing partner. Despite Wezza’s winning 39 pts. Wezza & Stef lost the units & had to pay up.

Stef summed up his day by showing a hilarious golf video of a guy “expressing” how Stef’s day panned out. Great attitude Stef.

Vet’s at Lucindale tomorrow, to those going, have a great day.
