A field of 20 played a stroke competition for the MacGregor Builders Trophy in very windy conditions on Sunday.
Thanks to MacGregors for supporting BGC.
A big welcome to Joey Campbell, playing his first competition. Also, to Ozzie Smith, a late happy birthday & great to see him out trying out his new golf clubs.
With 6 birdies, a great effort in the conditions, Craig Sunderland won the MacGregor Trophy (Gross 68/Nett 63) from Shane Smith (76/66) & 3rd Brian Pennell (87/67). Well done fellas.
In addition to Craig’s birdies (1st, 4th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th), others to score birdies were Shane Smith (2nd, 11th), Mark Pretty (5th), Barry Snook (6th), Shane Stevens (6th), Brendan Freeman (15th) & Log MacGregor (15th).
However, shot of the day must go to Cookie for his Sandy/Birdie/Ferret on the 6th. After teeing off, to land in the left-hand bunker, Cookie’s bunker shot never looked like missing. Well played Cookie.
The Adam Walker NTP Challenge winner for NTP on the 6th/15th was Shane Smith.
NTP on the 9th/18th was Brendan Freeman.
The 8th tee block again, was the centre of entertainment this week, with some more errant tee shots which terrorized players coming up the 7th fairway.
- Shane Stevens’ group missed the “Fore” call after Shannon Ash teed off from the 8th. Shane was quite surprised & luckily unhurt, when the ball struck him on the abdomen. Shane willing displayed his “golf ball” size welt in the clubrooms afterwards.
- Ozzie was addressing his ball on the 7th fairway when the “Fore” call went out. Ozzie’s playing partners looked up, but Ozzie concentrating on his shot didn’t. He was quite surprised when Ducky’s tee shot quizzed by, very close to him. Sorry Ozzie.
Next Sunday’s competition will be a Stableford round.
